Sports massage is specifically tailored to different sports and sporting injuries. It is highly effective at improving the condition of the soft tissue.
The aim of sports massage is to reduce the stress and tension that can build up in the soft tissues of the body during exercise. This form of massage is used to:
reduce recovery time after an injury.
Remedial massage is used to locate and repair damaged areas of the body and speed up the body’s own healing processes. The pressure applied in this healing treatment can either be strong and deep or gentle and shallow, depending on the problem.
Problems with the muscles can trigger or radiate pain to other parts of the body. Remedial massage aims to trace the original reason for the complaint, tackling both the cause of the problem and the symptoms.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Deep tissue massage uses minimal lubricant so that the muscles can be hooked or grabbed, thereby stretching and lengthening them, and to decompress muscle compartments. Strokes will be considerably slower and possibly shorter as the therapist waits for a slow release of tension. Doing this provides better alignment of the muscles and less restriction in the joints, thereby improving their movement and function. It is a massage in which the primary goal is less about general relaxation and more about promoting change in the actual structure of the body.
Pregnancy massage is a version of remedial massage that is adapted to suit the specific needs of expectant mothers.
A woman’s body undergoes many physical changes during pregnancy, some of which can cause you pain and discomfort. Remedial massage can help to eliminate and relieve some of your symptoms and complaints that you may experience as you move through the positive physiological effects of pregnancy.
